Moving Tips
-
To make your move as efficient as possible, all packing should be done prior to moving day. Please separate all personal belongings you may need overnight and items you will need immediately at your new home.
-
If you are packing yourself, don’t forget, we sell boxes! All boxes not packed by Charlottesville Moving Solutions are considered delivered safely if there is no external damage to the container. We recommend using what may feel like an excessive amount of paper on your fragile items. Please label each box, noting its contents and where it should be placed in your new home, and tape all boxes closed.
-
The following items must be packed in boxes or the movers will pack them and charge you accordingly; stereo components, game consoles, DVD players, plasma and flat screen TV's, small speakers and subwoofers, computers, mirrors, pictures, glass table tops, fragile lamps, all lamp shades, and all small fragile items.
REMEMBER Charlottesville Moving Solutions’ movers are personally responsible for the safe delivery of your belongings. Please help them to do their job properly. Do not expect them to take chances.
-
For example, pack linens and clothes in drawers, chests, and trunks. Pack loose items in trash cans.
-
Furniture manufactured from press board, particle board, and/or engineered wood is designed to go into a box from the manufacturer, to the retailer, and then to the customer unassembled. It is not constructed to withstand the normal stress of a move as an assembled unit. We are not responsible for damage to these items.
-
Our movers will pack everything unless you tell them differently. It is a good idea to sort through cabinets, drawers, shelves, and closets prior to the arrival of the packers. Look for items to give away or throw away, so you don’t pay to have them packed, moved, and then cluttering your new home. Also, look for valuable or important items that should be separated from the general household goods the packers will be packing. We do not pack or move jewelry, silverware, money, keys, flammables, or guns. We recommend separating your important papers and files as well.
-
Our movers will disassemble beds and remove mirrors from dressers. We will reassemble these items at delivery. We do not service washers and dryers or remove water lines for refrigerator ice-makers. Please have a qualified technician perform these services prior to the arrival of the movers.
We do not assemble items that we did not disassemble.
We do not disassemble/reassemble any exercise equipment.
-
Please check with the resident manager about reserving the elevator and loading dock. If your shipment is picked up and delivered the same day, the elevator must be available past 5:00 PM until unloading is complete. The schedule for your move may have to be adjusted in order to use the elevator.

Additional Coverage
For your protection, you are required by law to place a value on your possessions before a moving company loads them. You may choose to value your goods by their replacement cost, or by weight (the minimum coverage). Charlottesville Moving Solutions offers several protection plans that are underwritten by a nationwide insurer of movers. In the event of an accident to your goods, you should first contact Charlottesville Moving Solutions. Then, if necessary, a claims specialist will contact you personally to assist with arranging any necessary repairs. Please note: Simulated wood products and pressed board have poor structural integrity, which does not lend itself to moving or repair. We will move these items carefully, but we cannot be responsible for damage to simulated wood or pressed board furniture. Charlottesville Moving Solutions assumes no liability or responsibility for any items or cargo placed in the customer's own vehicle or in rental equipment that Charlottesville Moving Solutions does not transport.
Minimum Coverage: If no additional coverage is requested, then the maximum carrier liability is $0.60 per pound, per article. This means that if any damage were to occur to your goods, the items would be repaired or reimbursed, subject to a limit of $0.60 per pound of the item’s weight and a $250 deductible.
Note: To be certain of total coverage for any single damage, you must have valued the whole shipment for its total value.
Covered Property Does Not Include:
